All
examinations for Dan/Kyu Given to members of the Association are carried
out under these rules except when specified separately. |
| Article
2 |
Dan/Kyu
shall be awarded to those who have arrived at a certain level of technique
as the result of much endeavor in training themselves both in body
and in soul as a Karate-ka. |
| Article
3 |
There
are ten steps in Dan, beginning with first Dan. Given below are the
technical standards for each Dan. |
|
1)Sho
Dan (1st grade) :
|
those
who have learned the basic techniques of Karate and can apply them. |
|
2)
Ni Dan (2nd grade) :
|
those
who have mastered the basic techniques of Karate and can apply them
fully. |
|
3)
San Dan (3rd grade) :
|
those
who have mastered karate techniques in general and can apply them
fully. |
|
4)
Yon Dan (4th grade) :
|
those
who have mastered all karate techniques and can understand their principles.
They can apply them fully and have the ability to give general instruction.
|
|
5)
Go Dan (5th grade):
|
those
who have attained a high level of Karate technique and displayed originality
in their Karate. |
|
6)
Roku Dan (6th grade):
|
those
who have attained a high level of Karate both in technique and soul
after devoting themselves to training. |
|
7)
Nana Dan (7th grade):
|
those
who attained a fully mature level of Karate both in technique and
soul after devoting themselves to training. |
|
8)
Hachi Dan(8th grade):
|
those
who have attained an acutely refined level of Karate after devoting
themselves to training. |

9)
Kyu Dan(9th grade):
|
those
who have mastered completely the essence of Karate. |
|
10)
Ju Dan (10th grade):
|
those
who mastered completely the essence of Karate and entered a transcendental
level. |

4 |
Kyu
is awarded to those who have not yet obtained any Dan. |
| Article
5 |
Kyu
consist of ten steps, beginning with tenth Kyu and rising to first
Kyu. Tenth Kyu is awarded to those who have learned the easiest and
the most basic techniques of Karate, while first Kyu is awarded to
those who are closest to first Dan. It is possible, if necessary,
to award a temporary Kyu before awarding a full Kyu. |

Those
who hope to take an examination should fill in an examination card
before the deadline and submit it to the local main office with the
fees as specified separately. |

Given
below are the requirements for taking a Dan examination. |

1st
Dan:
|
those
who have finished an apprenticeship of more than two years and have
a license of first Kyu. |
|
2nd
Dan:
|
those
who have finished an apprenticeship of one year after obtaining 1st
Dan. |
|
3rd
Dan:
|
those
who have finished an apprenticeship of two years after obtaining 2nd
Dan. |
|
4th
Dan:
|
those
who have finished an apprenticeship of three years after obtaining
3rd Dan. |

5th
Dan:
|
those
who have finished an apprenticeship of four years after obtaining
4th Dan. |

6th
Dan:
|
those
who have held 5th Dan for over six years and are over 40 years old.
|
|
7th
Dan:
|
those
who have held 6th Dan for over seven years. |
|
8th
Dan:
|
those
who have held 7th Dan for over seven years. |
|
9th
Dan:
|
those
who have held 8th Dan for over eight years. |

10th
Dan:
|
those
who have held 9th Dan for over nine years. |

Official
Technical Status is classified into the 3 categories below and each
status into four classes 1) Instructor status (A, B, C, and D). 2)
Judge status (A, B, C, and D). 3) Examiner status (A, B, C, and D).

Standard of
Examiner Status
1.The following
standards must be satisfied in order to obtain examiner status.
|

1)
D class:Those who have 3rd Dan with D class examiner status are allowed
to give kyu test |
|
|
2)
C class:Those who have 4th Dan with C class examiner status are allowed
to give examinations below 1st Dan |
|
|
3)
B class:Those who have 5th Dan with B class examiner status are allowed
to give examinations below 2nd Dan |
|
|
4)
A class:Those who have 6th Dan with A class examiner status are allowed
to give examination below 3rd Dan |
|
2.
Those who hope to take a qualifying examination should receive permission
from the representative of the organisation to which he or she belongs.
|
|
3.
Examiner status is given those who have both instructor and judge
status of the same grade. |
|
4.
Examiner should take a JSKAl examinations regulary and should register
those who have passed the Dan grading with the headquarters. |

5.
Only official Dan certificates issued by the head quarter's will be
recognized. |
